True Satisfaction
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
- Matthew 5:6
Every person seeks to achieve a joyful and blessed life. But how do Matthew’s words of hunger and thirst for righteousness lead us down that path? Hunger and thirst are easy for us to understand. We eat and drink because we know we need sustenance for the day. This is also true in our relationship with Christ. He is always there when we need to recharge our batteries, always open to helping us top up spiritually and emotionally. That same desire to go for our favorite meals and drinks needs to be invested into relationship with Christ.
“Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” - John 6:35
As for righteousness, remember that it is not self-righteousness but Christ’s that we are reinforcing into our routine; making sure Jesus’ empathy and passion are reflected in our words and actions. We should be synced with that type of understanding, wisdom, and passion so that we can bless those we interact with. Ask “What would Jesus do?” not with cynical dismissiveness, but with divinity and sincerity.
“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” - 2 Timothy 2:22
Craving righteousness with God’s light leads to fulfillment; ensuring that our minds and actions are guided by the Holy Spirit. ‘Seek and you shall find.’ Seek and the Lord will satisfy. True satisfaction can only come when we are open to the Lord’s transformation on this journey. True satisfaction comes when we choose the freedom, joy, and righteousness that Jesus offers.
“Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” - Romans 10:4
